Covid-19 Relief Fund

Church StaffNews

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted our church in many ways. On top of the stress from the many changes in our daily lives and the emotional toll of the loss of loved ones, some of our members have lost jobs and are undergoing hard financial times during the crisis. Conversely, others in the congregation have been able to save some money during the shutdown due to less travel and eating out, the receipt of government support checks, the cancellation of vacations and the like. We read in 2 Corinthians 8:15 (NIV) “’…The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.’” This passage is in reference to the gathering of manna that God provided His people as they wandered through the wilderness in search of food. In the spirit of this passage, it is time for those that have much, to not have too much, and those that have little, for it not to be too little.

As a result, we have established a fund to assist members of the GPCC who need short-term emergency financial relief due to the loss of employment, reduction of income, or other negative financial impacts directly related to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Fund will be managed in accordance with the GPCC Covid-19 Relief Fund Policy and Procedures.

For members who would like to provide a voluntary contribution to the Relief Fund, please visit the Giving Page and select “Covid-19 Relief Fund”. Contributions are tax deductible and may be eligible for employer matching. These donations should not be in lieu of members’ regular contribution or special missions commitments. The fund will be available through December 2020 or extended if necessary. We plan to send remaining monies to our sister churches in India to assist with financial challenges their members are facing due to the pandemic.

For members who have suffered critical financial challenges directly related to the Covid-19 pandemic, please complete this form to apply for assistance. Applications will be reviewed by our deacon of benevolence. Make sure to seek assistance from the many governmental and charitable resources available to us. We have compiled a number of these resources in a list for Pennsylvania residents and a list for New Jersey residents.
